Turf specs that matter
UV stabilisation grade, pile height (30–40 mm for realism), face weight (above 2,000 g/m² for premium feel), and yarn type (monofilament for durability). Always ask for the manufacturer's product specification and warranty terms in writing.
Sub-base — where most installs fail
Compacted aggregate base in 2 layers, levelled to fall for drainage, with a permeable membrane. Skip any step and the surface sinks, ripples, or holds water.
Drainage and infill
Pet areas need extra-rapid drainage and antibacterial infill. Play areas need shock pads. Pool surrounds need to resist chlorine splash. Each use case has different specs — don't accept a one-size-fits-all install.
Maintenance — yes, even artificial grass needs some
A quick monthly hose-down, occasional brushing with a stiff broom to keep blades upright, prompt removal of pet waste and a refresh of infill every 2–3 years. Do that and quality turf stays looking new for a decade. Skip it and you'll see matting and odour develop in pet areas within months.
