Artificial grass installation in Dubai — what makes it last
Cheap turf in Dubai fades within two summers. Quality turf with proper UV stabilisation and a correctly compacted sub-base will look great for 8 to 10 years. The difference is mostly invisible once installed — which is why brand and installation matter more than the showroom sample.
Where artificial grass works best
Rooftops and balconies where real lawn won't survive, pet areas, children's play zones, around pool decks, and commercial showrooms. We don't recommend it as a full substitute for natural lawn in shaded villa gardens where real grass would thrive.
Turf specifications worth paying for
Pile height 30–40 mm for realistic look and feel, face weight above 2,000 g/m² for density, monofilament yarn (not fibrillated) for resilience, UV stabilisation rated above 5,000 hours, and lead-free, non-toxic certification. Anything below those specs is going to look tired within two summers regardless of who installs it.
Sub-base — why most installs fail in year 2
Cheap installs skip sub-base prep. We excavate 100–150 mm, lay graded crusher run in two compacted layers, top with sharp sand screeded to fall, and finish with a permeable geotextile. The turf is then seamed with outdoor adhesive and pinned every 150 mm around perimeters. Done properly, the surface stays flat for a decade. Skip the sub-base and you'll be relaying in 18 months.
